Analgesic, Hypoglycemic and Antidiarrheal Activities Screening of Canna indica L.

The rhizome of Canna indica L. (family: Cannaceae) was extracted in methanol and two doses- 200 400 mg/kg body weight the extract were employed to reveal central peripheral analgesic, hypoglycemic antidiarrheal properties vivo. According tail immersion technique, both doses significantly rose time latent response for 90 minutes compared control mice group assessing analgesia. Acetic acid-induced writhing process demonstrated 37.29% 64.41% inhibition movement at doses, respectively which indicated promising statistically significant analgesic effect.
